May 16 – Act 48 Watershed Teaching Tools for Educators – Workshops in Westmoreland County

Penn State Extension provides a variety of non-formal education opportunities across Pennsylvania to a wide range of audiences.

On May 16th, at 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM we are holding free “train-the-trainer” programs at the Westmoreland County Extension Office in Greensburg, PA to introduce two curriculum activity kits to educators that would like to add water education to their lessons.  “Watershed Teaching Tools for Educators training” is designed for formal and informal educators and will provide background information on topics covered in these curricula and instruct educators on how to use the kits.  Attendees will take home a free “Rain to Drain” curriculum kit and book, a $60 value, and a free “Watershed Decisions” curriculum kit, valued at $39.  Both activities have been aligned to meet PA STEELS and MWEE standards and are fun ways to connect youth to their environment and teach them about the importance of water.  This event is offered at no charge, thanks to support from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Environmental Education Grants Program.
