World River Day – Sunday, Sept. 22

World Rivers Day is a UN designated day of global celebration of the world’s waterways that has been happening on the 4th Sunday of September since 2005.
On that day all around the world, local events “highlight the many values of our rivers, strive to increase public awareness, and encourage the improved stewardship of all rivers.”
On Sunday, Sept. 22  The River Alchemy Project will host a gathering of river-loving people and river-loving organizations at the solar-powered Tree Pittsburgh venue on the south shore of the beautiful Allegheny River. Along with sharing stories of our beautiful rivers, river-loving art-making at our “Creation Station”, and water-loving sing-a-long music by Voxylu & the Dreamers, we gather to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments our river-loving community has experienced this year: river clean-ups, river protections, new legislations, community engagements, etc.
